Ok I have to admit I have never ran out of gas in my entire life until the morning of Hudson’s portfolio session!! I was literally down the street and my car just puttered out! How professional I thought. First porfolio session of my career and I had to call the mom for a ride! I called, I confessed and she rushed over to me assuring me that this has happened to her before. Thank you for an understanding mama!! Thankfully the actual session didn’t start out as rocky as the intial meeting! Hudson was well, a PRO! To mom’s relief he was a natural and did not complain once!!
This blue outfit really made his eyes pop!
At this point he was really hamming it up and I was loving it!!
We took a trip over to the train. It didn’t have great light but it sure made Hudson light up!

We took a little break to have some juice and play with a slinky that he didn’t quite know how to use so he just swung it around!! He loved it!
At this point is when I realized that Hudson and I were best friends and he got a kick out of it everytime I called him that!! I don’t think he agreed!

This little stud was so many kinds of fun that I cannot wait until next time he needs more portfolio shots!!

It has been about a month since my computer crashed and I was left hopeless to ever catching up on edits! Thankfully with several backups I did not loose any currect work just current edits!! Since I have been back up in running I have been able to finish up this lovely famiy’s matenrity and newborn session. Before miss Cate was born in December this sweet family and I captured some beautiful maternity shots at park near the Gibson’s house. It was a sweet moment watching Cate’s sisters cozy in next to Natalie to get closer that sweet (little) baby bump!!
I mean really is there even a baby in there!
It was such a gorgeous fall day. If I remember correctly we had just dodged the rain.
I loved watching the interaction between this sweet little family. This little baby was about to be their whole world and you could just see the joy and excitement in each one of their eyes.
Baby Cate arrived on on December 7th and just a few days later I was getting the chance to hang out for the day and get to know her sweet little self. Well she slept most of the time which was music to my ears but she rarely was startled and barely cried.
The girls were so gentle with their little sister. I think I hogged her a little too long because they kept asking when they got to hold her again! They were so excited to just be in her presence. Everytime I looked up they were peering around the backdrop watching her contently.
She will definitelynever be lacking in the hugs and kisses department!
You have to have a little touch of christmas for this December baby.
Her sweet little details- I wonder what features are mommy’s and which ones are daddy’s?
She just slept so well for us we were able to get so many different setups. Even though I provide all the props and outfits we will need I love pulling in things from the home. Mom had an outfit that someone had given her so we used that in one setup and then we did a few in her crib with some stuffed toys gramma had made her as well as some beautiful paper flowers that were soon going up on the wall a friend had made. You can already tell that not only is this little lady adored by her family but by her village of friends as well!

Before the weather turned to freezing the Hamlin family and myself spent the afternoon in old Folsom playing around in parking garages, teasing little brother and just being goofballs. I have known Adam (dad) for several years as a friend to my fiancé and Karate master to my son, now I can say I know Adam as a parent and husband. They are quite the adventurous family. I can tell that Adam and Anna are great parents, teachers and confidants to their children.
This big bro made my afternoon easy. Such a calming sole and a great big brother.
Aww Mr Marcus the goober!! I think he might be a comedian one day or an actor. He had so many great faces!
Little Logan- the Boss!! He took a while to warm up but once he did, well just look at that sweet smile.
You can really tell they all look out for each other and genuinely have fun together!
Of course it is always a competition who is taller and bigger and smarter!!
I really enjoyed getting to know this family a little better. These three boys are such little comrades and they let me into their little world for a just a while to capture what it is like to be them!! Adam and Anna sure have their hands full with this rambunctious group but I have a feeling they can be just as rambunctious as their children!!

Vanessa contacted me back in the summer to photograph her sweet little family. They had recently moved back from North Carolina and was looking for a photographer similar to who they had used where they previously had lived and she found that my work met those needs. Before I even asked her who she had used in North Carolina I was secretly hoping It was Tamara Lackey Studios (My photography idol!) and when those words came out of her mouth I was dumbfounded and so honored to be mentioned in the same sentence as her! I was so excited and quite nervous hoping my work was comparable!! Fast forward a few months and I get to meet her lovely family! Now I know I am a good photographer but boy did their little spitfire two year old make my job easy!
I just couldn’t get over the way she waddled down the walkway it was the cutest thing and when you caleld her name and she looked back she always had a smile on her face.
I mean how often do you get this shot on the first try. Usually baby is pulling away and definately not looking at the camera smiling!
I loved capturing every little detail that was Selma. From her cute little red shoes and chubby legs to the sweet way she explored every last bit of the park.
She sure enjoys her mommy and daddy!
I mean really how many sweet poses can we get with this family!
Does anybody else get lost in those gorgeous eyes!

I can tell she is always making her parents laugh and they are always making her giggle!
As the afternoon started to come to an end little miss was getting tired which meant for lots of sweet moments cuddling up with mommy and daddy.
But of course there is always enough energy to fly high in the air with daddy.
I can tell that these three have such a crazy time together and never take life too seriously! Getting to hang with them for the afternoon helped me to remember to appreciate the sweet, silly and meltdown moments because all those moments make up the memory of who your child was at that time.

Miss Ariana turned One last month and boy was she excited. We started this little missy’s birthday bash in old folsom. This girl celebrates in style! Look at those gold balloons. Miss thang gave me so many smiles it was hard to narrow down these beautiful images.
I just love capturing little ones posing with such swagger. Look at that leg bend. she is a natural!! and those tiny hands and tiny feet!
Of course we had to celebrate with mommy and daddy! They have so many things to be grateful for on your birthday! You are their little miracle baby and celebrating you is the most important thing to them!
I just adore when mommy and baby look into eachothers eyes. I’m sure it takes you back to those midnight feedings all over again. Looking in to those eyes while she drifts back off to sleep.
My daddy and I have a speical bond, he makes me laugh laugh laugh!!
Of course this October baby had to get some shots at Zittels pumpkin patch! She look so big next to these pumpkins!
I had such a blast hanging out with Ariana and her mommy and daddy It was so great getting to know the little person she has become!!

I was so pleased when Alycia contacted me to photograph her maternity and newborn pictures. I have known her handsome other half since he was a snot nosed little preschooler who annoyed the crap out of his older sister and myself. To my delight he has grown up to be a loving, nuturing and kind man and maybe a male model. I mean look at these two, they rocked this rustic maternity shoot at #lehmanbarn.

Well this blog post is way overdue but I couldn’t help but post these precious moments I got with the Mahoney family. Little Victoria is such a sassafras with her little grey elephant, Baby. She did not want to put that thing down! Their session took place by the salmon falls bridge in this cute area where most people don’t think to stop besides the occasional fishermen. I’m pretty sure those guys were not our biggest fans that day and left with less than the desired amount of fish. We were pretty loud trying to get miss stubborn to break that straight face!!
I don’t normally ask clients to say “CHEESE” because you get a fake cheesey smile that way. Of course I did not ask Victoria to say “Cheese” but I still got this cheesey smile!!
Her mommy and daddy can definately provoke her to giggle and smile!

The lake made for such a breathtaking background and we finally got some genuine smiles from miss thang!!
I love when I capture sweet moments like these. She loved picking all the flowers!

It was such a delight to catch up with these little gentlemen. This drought has been really tough on California but it has also unveiled some gorgeous foregrown for photographers to take full advantage of. Im channeling my glass half full side! If it was a rainy season all these rocks (that make natural seating) would most likely be under water. With a beautiful bed of rocks, an aging rainbow bridge and a growing Kosciuk Family… in height not numbers (I mean look at those long legs on those boys) it made for a beautiful evening.
Mr B! is it for baseball or Braden? The two do go hand in hand!
Mr. Adam or shall we say Scotty. I’m pretty sure its the cutest thing ever that his mom calls him that and it was pretty much his name by the end of the shoot if it was up to me!
It was such a delight to catch up with these little gentlemen. I had the pleasure of teaching them in preschool as well as many nights of babysitting followed by great conversation with Jen and Ryan after they returned from their date night.

We orginally planned this shoot just for little Ella but we took one look at the location and had to incorporate both girls. Such graceful little girls there was no question, both of them had to be a part of it. Ella is such a nautral caregiver to her little mini me she made the experience flawless. Ava was full of smiles for me and definately knew how to work the camera.
After getting a few shots of the girls together and Ava alone it was time for miss Ella’s close up. Her soft and gentleness with her sister flows through every aspect of her personality all the way to her sweet little rabbit.
Mama was looking for the sun kissed flare look and we were definately able to achieve that by the light of the lake and purple flower field. We took a little walk from the purple flowers to this beautiful field of dry grass where Ella got to try out her fairy princess side. She got a kick out of it and I got a kick out of trying to get her to grant a wish to the sky and flowers!
We all had a lovely evening out by the lake soaking up the last of the beautiful spring colors!

One year old Jett and I recently had a play date at Castle Park in Folsom. A place of many fond memories for his mother and I. Where many after school shenanigans took place and endless hours of laughter. Brittany (Jett’s mom) and I were only acquaintances growing up. Being a year apart in school we had many mutual friends and experiences that tied us together but never really became friends. It wasn’t until years later when Miss Anderson became Mrs. Smith and then Mommy Smith that our friendship has grown and I have been so blessed to watch her children grow up into little people!
So back to Jett and my play date. This play date was not like most of my play dates with my little people I photograph. This time we had a real super cool airplane prop (provided by another one of my clients! I love having awesome clients) I mean rightfully so for a boy named JETT!! Gotta have a theme with that name! And boy does his name fit! I think you might have a future pilot in your hands Brittany because we could not tear that boy away from his airplane. He made sure to put his hands on every last piece of that plane. I think he had found his first love! He was definitely Mr. Popular at the park that day with kids lining up to see the rad airplane and the boy who flew it!
You would think that he would have pitched a fit like any one year old would have when it was time to move on to the next thing but no not even-tempered Jett! He was ready for the next adventure of the day! We played for a few minutes on the swings and then it was time for CAKE!!!! Who doesn’t have a custom made delicious cake made for them on their first birthday?! Jett delicately had a few bites of cake and then smashed his hands in and squished around. Talk about some sensory integration!
He enjoyed that cake and then the adults dug in also! Couldn’t let good cake go to waste!
What a walk in the park this session was. I can always count on Jett to deliver the smiles!
